Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh Police has been working tirelessly to maintain internal peace, curb crime and establish rule of law.

The role of police in combating militancy and terrorism, eradication of drugs and smuggling has further enhanced the image of Bangladesh in the world arena, the Premier added.

The Prime Minister said this in a message given on Saturday on the occasion of Police Week-2022. She extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all the members of Bangladesh Police on this occasion.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the brave members of the Bangladesh Police have made significant commendable contributions through their active participation in UN peacekeeping operations.

After the formation of the Awami League government, the manpower of Bangladesh Police has been increased in phases, she said, adding that the government is working to promote and enhance the ranks of the police in order to achieve professional excellence.

She said the government has taken effective steps to resolve the issue of promotion of police officers by creating new posts in Bangladesh Police.

At the same time, the number of Grade-1 and Grade-2 posts has been increased, the Premier continued.

“Besides, we formed an industrial police unit in 2010 for the industrial area and a tourist police unit in 2013 for the safety of tourists,” she said.

“I hope that the members of Bangladesh Police will carry out their duties with efficiency, professionalism and impartiality while upholding human values and will act as a supporting force in building the ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of Nation,” she said.

The Prime Minister wished the overall success of all the programs of ‘Police Week-2022’. – BSS
