Passenger thrown from bus to death in capital

A man has been killed by throwing off a bus during a rent dispute at the Wari Joy Kali Temple in the capital.

The incident took place around 11 am on Thursday (January 20). Irfan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at around 1:15 pm.

Irfan's colleague Abdul Quader said that Irfan used to work in an electric shop in Nawabpur. His home is in Demra area. He was coming to Nawabpur by Green Bangla bus from Demra in the morning.

He further said that he came to know from the spot that Irfan had an argument with the bus conductor about the fare. At one point, the bus conductor pushed him off the bus. Irfan was seriously injured. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died.

Irfan's relatives rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital after receiving the news of his death. Irfan's elder brother Raihan said that they live in Sarulia of Demra. Irfan lived there with his daughter and wife. Their father's name is Alamgir Hossain. Irfan is the third of three brothers and one sister.

Confirming the incident, Wari Police Station PSI Arafat Hossain said, 'I came to know through the locals that the person named Irfan was coming in a bus called Green Bangla.' At one point during the argument over the fare at the corner of Joy Kali Temple, conductor Mozammel pushed him and threw him off the bus. Mozammel was later detained by locals. Later, Mozammel managed to escape. Irfan died at Dhaka Medical College. 

He added that the police have started trying to seize Green Bangla bus. Irfan's body has been kept at Dhaka Medical Morgue.
