Mild cold wave sweeping over country, likely to continue

The mild cold wave is sweeping over the country and it may continue for the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in a weather bulletin signed by Deputy Director Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik on Thursday.

Accroding to the country’s Met Office, the mild wave is being swept over Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon and Kurigram districts and it may continue for the next 24 hours. Besides, light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country from midnight to morning.

The weather bulletin signed by Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik said “light rain or drizzle” is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

“Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,” it added.

The country’s Met Office said a trough of westerly low has lied over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas. As a result, a ridge of Sub-continental high has extended up to West Bengal and adjoining areas. So, the seasonal low is being lied over South Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 28.6°C yesterday at Teknaf in the Chattogram division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 9.3°C at Rajshahi district.

Today’s sunset will be at 5:35 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 6:43 am.
