Journalist Habibur Rahman killed in Hatirjheel road crash

Habibur Rahman Habib, former organizing secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and senior reporter of Daily Shomoyer Alo, was killed in a motorcycle accident.
He was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident at Hatirjheel in the capital on Wednesday night. After rescuing him in a critical condition, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
Habibur Rahman Habib, son of Mohammad Pier Mia and a permanent resident of Brahmanpara upazila in Cumilla.
Hatirjheel Police Station Duty Officer SI Enamul Haque said “at around 2:35 pm, Habibur Rahman’s motorcycle lost control and hit the sidewalk in front of Siddique Master’s slope at Begunbari in Hatirjheel. Habibur Rahman was fell on the road”.
Later, a pedestrian named Mazdar Rahman rescued him in critical condition and took him to DMCH Hospital. Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and recovered his motorcycle and kept it in the custody of the Nayatola police outpost. Later at around 4 pm, the doctor declared Habibur Rahman dead, SI Enamul Haque added.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the DRU Executive Committee, President Nazrul Islam Mithu and General Secretary Nurul Islam Hasib, in an immediate statement, expressed deep condolences over the death of Habibur Rahman Habib.
The leaders of DRU conveyed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of Habibur Rahman Habib and wished for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased.
The Namaz-e-Janaza of journalist Habibur Rahman Habib will be held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Daily Shomoyer Alo office and Central Mosque of Dhaka University. Later, His body will be taken to Cumilla.
