Another 23 lakh dose of Pfizer vaccine against coronavirus from the United States is coming to the country tonight. The consignment is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka around 9:30 pm.

This information was given by Shamsul Haque, Member Secretary of Corona Vaccine Management Committee of the Directorate of Health this afternoon.

He said another 23 lakh Pfizer vaccine doses are coming to Bangladesh under the platform CoVAX, which is designed to ensure that corona vaccines are available around the world on a fair basis. The vaccine consignment is scheduled to arrive on a special flight at 9:30 pm on Friday. Some officials from the Directorate of Health will receive the vaccine consignment at the airport.

The secretary said the vaccine would be taken at the central IPI's warehouse in Mohakhali from the airport to storage. The vaccine will be administrated to students.

Meanwhile, Moderna vaccines will now be inoculated to front-line fighters aged over 60 to prevent Covid-19 infection instead of Pfizer in the third dose (booster dose).

It was said in a notification on Thursday signed by Shamsul Haque, the Secretary of the Department of Health's Extended Immunization Program (EPI) Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce Committee Member Secretary.

The notice state that it was directed to provide Moderna Covid-19 vaccine instead of Pfizer as the third dose/booster dose subject to vaccine availability at all levels of the country.

On January 27, 2021, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the immunization program virtually at Kurmitola Hospital in the capital. On that day, 21 people were vaccinated against coronavirus. The next day, 546 people were inoculated in 5 hospitals in the capital.
