The government is thinking of keeping shops and shopping malls closed after 8 pm due to the increase in coronavirus (Covid-19) cases, said Health Minister Dr. Zahid Maleque.

“Shops should be closed by 8 pm. None can enter the restaurant without a vaccination certificate,” he said while distributing winter clothes among the extremely poor people of Manikganj Sadar and Saturia upazilas at Manikganj Shuvro Center on Saturday noon.

Dr. Zahid Maleque added the number of Covid-19 patients in the country has increased “four hundred times”. In such a situation, if the situation becomes threatening, the educational institution will be considered for closure again.

At the time, the Health Minister warned if anyone went out without a mask, he or she would be jailed and fined by the mobile court.

“COVID cases are on the rise in many parts of the world, however, it is still under control in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is in a better position than the rest of the world from the Omicron attack,” Health Minister Dr. Zahid Maleque said.

Mentioning that mobile courts will be set up “if necessary” to ensure compliance with the hygiene rules, Dr. Zahid Maleque said hygiene is not being observed in the elections of the country. If the hygiene rules are not followed, there will be a threat situation by Covid-19.

Manikganj Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizur Rahman, District Administration Executive Magistrate Shah Md. Jubayer Hossain, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Awami League general secretary Afsar Uddin Sarkar and others were present at that time.
