Dr. Jahanara Ehsan, wife of former state minister Murad Hasan, called the National Emergency Service 999 and asked for police cooperation.
She called the 999 on Thursday afternoon, saying that “she was being beaten and even receiving death threats”.
The matter was reported to Dhanmondi police station from 999. After that, a team of police went to Murad’s house, however, they did not find Murad there. Later in the evening, his wife went to the police station and lodged a GD against Murad.
Confirming the matter, Dhanmondi Police Station OC Ikram Ali Mia said police had been sent to former state minister Murad Hasan’s house after receiving a call from 999.
“Dr. Jahanara Ehsan accused her husband, Murad Hasan, of torturing her and threatening to kill her.” OC Ikram Ali Mia also said, adding that legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint.
Recently, Murad’s obscene phone conversations with a film actress became viral on social media. Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the MP from Jamalpur-4 (Sarishabari) constituency to resign from the Cabinet.
When he resigned on December 7, his resignation letter was accepted on the same night and a notification was issued by the Cabinet Division.
On the same day, at an emergency meeting of Jamalpur District Awami League, Murad Hasan was relieved from the post of District Awami League Health and Population Secretary. Following this, he was dismissed from the post of member of Sarishabari Upazila Awami League. Later, Murad Hasan was also relieved from his post as a member of his own UP Awami League. Murad’s initial membership in the Awami League was also canceled.
He left for Canada on the night of December 9. He then arrived at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada, however, was not allowed to enter the country. From there, he was picked up on a flight to Dubai. But various media outlets reported that he was not allowed to enter Dubai either.
