Election Commission (EC) Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandaker said that the fifth phase polls to 708 Union Parishads (UPs) held peacefully today. We expect above 70 percent of votes to be cast. Voting was held peacefully except for a few isolated incidents.

He told reporters at a press conference after the UP polls at the Election Building in Agargaon on Wednesday.

Md. Humayun Kabir Khandaker said that voting was held peacefully except a few isolated incidents. Voting has been canceled in 9 centers due to irregularities. 

When asked who will take the responsibility for six election violent deaths, he said, adding that candidates and supporters would take responsibility. Because why are they doing this? The secretary also urged the candidates and supporters not to be too emotional at this time.

Voting for the fifth phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections started at 8 am on Wednesday and continued uninterrupted till 4 pm.
