Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that Lockdown might be effective soon to prevent Omicron.

He told reporters at the secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

The minister said that the movement of people will be restricted again as the rate of COVID infection is increasing in the country. Lockdown could also be imposed if the infection increases, he said.

'We have requested the home minister,' he said. DC (Deputy Commissioner)  and SP (Superintendant of Police)s at the district level have also been told. When they receive these instructions, they will implement them quickly. 15 days have been asked for speedy implementation. But today I have proposed to give 7 days, not 15 days.

'We have to stop COVID virus and Omicron,' he said. That's why some decisions are being made. Vehicles cannot be driven without a mask. Anyone travelling on buses, trains and launches without mask will be fined. It has been a rough decision.

The minister said it has been proposed to halve the number of passengers in buses and other vehicles. Must go to restaurants and hotels wearing the mask. The shopkeepers will be fined seen without a mask, he said, adding that anyone who goes can also be fined.
