The age limit for booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be reduced, said Prof. Dr. ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

He made the remarks during a discussion with members of the Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum at the DGHS in the capital on Monday.

Khurshid Alam said apart from SMS, co-morbidity patients below the age of 60 can get the vaccine jab at the previous center. In that case, they must have the necessary evidence of the disease.

DGHS DG said coronavirus vaccine booster dose is being considered for such people - “at risk of death, physically ill”.

Those who have co-morbidity, who are at health risk, will be able to take booster doses, the DGHS DG also said. “In that case, age will not be a barrier.”

The country has started giving booster doses on December 28. Currently, people over the age of 60 and those in the forefront of the COVID fight are receiving booster doses. To get a booster dose, the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine must be taken six months later.
