‘Dhaka Nagar Paribahan’ to ply from Sunday with 120 buses

‘Dhaka Nagar Paribahan’ is being introduced with 120 new buses initially to reduce the suffering of city dwellers for local buses in public transport. All preparations have already been completed. These transports will run from Ghatarchar in Keraniganj to Kanchpur in Narayanganj.

‘Dhaka Nagar Paribahan’ will be inaugurated at 10 am on Sunday at Mohammadpur Basila Tin Rastar Mor in the capital. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam will be present at the event.

Earlier, at a press conference at DSCC’s Nagar Bhaban on October 6, Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said “no old buses would ply on the Kanchpur route from Ghatarchar”. Purchased buses will be plying from January 1, 2021, and the old buses will be withdrawn. New buses will be added. In all, 120 buses will run on this route.

DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam was also present at the press conference that day. On that day, Mayor Atiqul Islam said that there would be a “specific dress code” for the drivers and associates of the transport plying from Ghatarchar to Kanchpur.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Nur Mohammad Majumder, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation Chairman Md. Tajul Islam, RAJUK chairman ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, executive director of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority Khandaker Rakibur Rahman, secretary general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Khandaker Enayet Ullah, general secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Osman Ali, Public Transport Specialist SM Saleh Uddin were present at the press conference.
