Bangladesh resumes on arrival visa service

Bangladesh has resumed on arrival visa service for foreign nationals from now on after more than a year and a half of closure due to the epidemic coronavirus.

On December 1, the security services department of the home ministry has directed to introduce this visa in four categories.

A letter has been sent to the Additional Inspector General of Special Branch signed by Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman, Deputy Secretary, Security Services Department.

The letter said that considering the current situation, it has been decided to issue entry visas to the following categories of persons-

>> Foreign nationals of Bangladeshi descent and their spouses/children.

>> Foreign nationals holding diplomatic and official passports.

>> Foreign investors and traders.

>> Foreign nationals coming to participate in any government meeting/seminar/conference/any other event at the invitation of Bangladesh government.

The letter also stated that on-arrival visas may be issued to certain travelers with the prior permission of the Department of Security, with special consideration if necessary.

It further said that in the case of incoming passengers, Covid-19 protocol prescribed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Health should be followed.

To prevent coronavirus (Covid-19) infection, the government first suspended all types of on-arrival visas in Bangladesh on March 15 last year.
