France provides 20 lakh vaccines to Bangladesh

France has provided a total of 20,06,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh following a pledge made during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit to Paris. 

The French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marin Schuh formally handed over the vaccines to Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Health Minister Zahid Maleque at a ceremony at the State Guest House Padma in Dhaka on Tuesday. 

The foreign minister thanked the French government for the donation and said it would further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries. 

Dr Momen also thanked the French government for offering warm hospitality and highest level of honor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her recent Paris visit. 

The foreign minister said Sweden would also donate 5.30 lakh doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh soon.
