Hundreds people sued for torching, vandalizing buses in Rampura

Two cases were filed with Hatirjheel and Rampura police stations against several hundreds of unnamed persons for vandalizing and setting fire to buses. 

SI AKM Niazuddin Mollah of Hatirjheel Police Station filed the case under the Explosives Act on Wednesday. 

Mainuddin Islam Durjoy, a candidate in the ongoing SSC examination and student of Ekramunnesa School and College, was hit by the bus around 10.45 pm on Monday in the Rampura Bazar area, leaving him dead on the spot. The incident prompted an agitated mob to vandalize and torch buses in the area at the time. 

Later, the deceased's mother Rashida Begum filed a case with Rampura police station under the Road Transport Act 2018. Bus driver Sohel and helper Chan Mia were shown arrested in the case. 

Besides, another case has been filed by Rampura police against an unidentified 400-500 persons for setting fire to eight buses and vandalizing four, OC of Rampura police station Rafiqul Islam confirmed.
