SSC candidate dead in road crash: Bus driver detained

Police have detained the bus driver over the death of an SSC examination candidate in the capital’s Rampura area. The bus was also seized. 

Motijheel Divison Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Ahad confirmed the information to reporters on Monday night while visiting the spot. 

The Deputy Commissioner said the incident of setting fire to bused over the death was also being investigated.

Meanwhile, the details about the bus driver were not initially revealed. He is now in the police station.

Mainuddin, a candidate in the ongoing SSC exams and student of Ekramunnesa School and College, was killed at around 10:45 pm on Monday as a bus ran over him in the Rampura Bazar area near Better Life Hospital. 

His death triggered agitation on the street and led to eight buses being put on fire.
