Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a criminal gang who used to identify themselves as members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), DB or other forces. They targeted those who had just withdrawn money from the bank. More than a hundred such people were arrested this year in the capital who committed crimes posing themselves as fake law enforcers.

According to the DMP, they are all professional criminals. They used to wear uniforms of law enforcers and carry pistols and walkie-talkies and handcuffs.

Identifying themselves as members of RAB or DB police, they easily picked the target people up in the car before the person realizes anything. Such incidents has become regular in the capital.

Many members of the fake law enforcement agencies were already arrested in many cases filed by the victims after snatching or robbery. Sometimes they had been caught while preparing for robbery.

Recently, a team of DB police arrested five people while preparing for a robbery. They, carrying toy pistols and walkie-talkies, had been robbing in the capital for a long time posing themselves as members of DB police.

Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel Division) Rifat Rahman Shamim said they were arrested while they were going to commit robbery. Interrogating the gang members, it has been learned that they were mainly targeting the bank clients.

Rifat Rahman also said that all the members of this gang are professional criminals. After being released on bail, they got involved in the same profession again.
