NDC student crushed dead by city corporation vehicle in Gulistan

A student from Notre Dame College (NDC) named Nayeem Hasan, 17, has been killed when a garbage truck of a city corporation crushed him at Gulistan in the capital.

The accident took place around 11:30 am on Wednesday. He was then rescued and taken to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared him dead at 12:15 pm. 

The deceased NDC student Nayeem was wearing the college uniform. Later, Nayeem’s identity was obtained from the birth certificate which was found in his bag. 

Nayeem Hasan, son of Md. Shah Alam of West Kazirkhil Dewanbari village in Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur. His mother’s name is Jannatul Ferdous.   

Aminul Islam Fahim, a higher secondary student of Kabi Nazrul College who rescued Nayeem and took him to the hospital, said Nayeem was hit by a garbage truck while crossing the road at Gulistan Zero Point in the capital. He was severely injured and rushed to the DMCH hospital.

DMCH hospital police camp in-charge (inspector) Md. Bachchu Mia said Nayeem was brought to the hospital around 12:15 pm. The doctors then examined him and declared him dead. The body has been kept in the morgue.

Confirming the matter, Shahbagh police officer in charge (OC) Md. Moudud Haldar said the garbage truck has been seized. The driver was also detained.
