The government has launched inoculation slum dwellers aged 18 and above against Covid-19. The vaccination program started at 8:00am at Korail, one of the biggest slums in Dhaka.
Director of the Department of Health Immunization Program Shamsul Haque confirmed this to media on Tuesday morning.
He said, "We have officially started vaccinating the slum dwellers in Karail slum in the capital today. Although we were supposed to vaccinate for two days through the immunization campaign, now we are thinking of covering the entire slum dwellers."
Dr. Shamsul Haque said, there are about three lakh people in Karail slum. Many of them have been vaccinated, and we will vaccinate those who did not get jabs. However, it must be given to those aged 18 or above.
When asked how those who are not registered will be vaccinated, he said those who come here will be registered on the spot. We have already vaccinated those who have not registered in many places by registering them through NID or birth registration.
