Regarding the seven deaths over dominance in Rohingya camps at Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen today said those who do not want the Rohingya repatriation can cause such an incident.
“Various incidents are being planned in the Rohingya camps to prevent repatriation,” he said.
Foreign Minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a public awareness seminar on prevention and control of high blood pressure organized by the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh and Jalalabad Association in Sylhet on Friday afternoon.
The minister said a meeting was held on Thursday with the Ministry of Home Affairs to improve the law and order situation inside and outside the Rohingya camps. “Such an unfortunate incident is really a matter of panic,” he mentioned.
Foreign Minister also said that a decision could be taken to “open fire” on the Myanmar border “if necessary” to stop drug and arms smuggling around the Rohingya camp.
MP Hafiz Ahmad Majumder, Habibur Rahman Habib and DGHS director Dr. Himanshu Lal Roy and others spoke on the occasion.
