No JSC-JDC exams this year: Education Minister

There will be no Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations this year as well, said the Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.

The minister came up with the development while speaking to reporters after a program organized on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 75th birthday at Agargaon Women's Polytechnic Institute in the capital on Tuesday.

Although the government has decided to hold SSC and HSC examinations in November and December respectively. No decision has been taken so far regarding the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC). As a result, the education boards have not received any instructions in this regard. However, the education minister announced her decision in this regard today.

Dr. Dipu Moni said today is the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. To commemorate her birthday, we have taken initiative to plant trees of different institutions across the country through students. Students will plant trees, take care of them. Through this, the students will be convinced to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.

He further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a delighted leader not only of the country but of the whole world. She is taking Bangladesh forward with pride. This is a matter of pride for us.

Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Mahbub Hossain was present at the occasion.

It is to be noted that, the JSC, JDC and PEC exams are normally held in November every year. But due to coronavirus pandemic, the government has decided not to hold this year's JSC, JDC and PEC  examinations.

The minister said, there will be no Primary Education Completion (PEC) and its equivalent Ebtedayee examination for 2021 and the students will be promoted to the next class through class assessment instead.
