A Dhaka court has fixed August 31 for the submission of investigation report in a case filed over the murder of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college girl Samia Afran Prity.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arafatul Rakib set the new date on Tuesday.
Today was set for the submission of the investigation report of the case. However, as Inspector Mohammad Yasin Sikder, the investigation officer of the case could not submit the report, the court reset the date.
On March 24, former general secretary of Motijheel Awami League Tipu was returning home to Khilgaon Bagichha by his microbus from the restaurant. As the vehicle got stuck in a traffic jam, unidentified assailants fired shots at it.
Tipu (55), his driver Monir Hossain Munna (34), and rickshaw passenger Prity (22), were hit by bullets. Later, the three were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Tipu and Prity dead.
Prity was an HSC student of Badrunnesa Mahila College.
Later on March 25, Tipu's wife Farhana Islam Doly, also the councillor of wards 1, 11, 12 (Motijheel area) of Dhaka South City Corporation, filed a case with Shahjahanpur Police Station in connection with the murder.
