Those who oppose Padma Bridge are enemies of nation: HC

A hearing has been held on a rule issued to form an inquiry committee or commission to identify and bring the people, to justice, who made stories of corruption over the Padma Bridge Project.
The High Court fixed Tuesday for further hearing and to pass an order on the rule.
Referring to the Padma Bridge as a national asset and the pride of the country, the high court said those who oppose such national assets are enemies of the nation.
A bench of the High Court comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo made the remarks on Monday.
The court raise the question that why the World Bank stopped financing the Padma Bridge if there was no conspiracy.
The court also observed that the Padma Bridge is our national asset, our pride. Those who are against such national interests and development are the enemies of the nation, the enemies of the country. They need to be identified.
Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik was stood for the state in the court while senior lawyer Md. Khurshid Alam Khan was for the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
