HC cancels Samrat’s bail

The High Court has canceled the bail of Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in a case filed over the casino business. The court also ordered him to surrender within seven days.

The High Court bench of  Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order on Wednesday. 

Earlier, the court granted bail to Samrat on three conditions on a bond of Tk 10,000 till June 9 in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Now, the High Court canceled the bail. 

Advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury and Advocate Ehsanul Haque Samaji stood for Samrat while Attorney General Abu Mohammad (AM) Amin Uddin - accompanied by Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik- represented the state. Besides, lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan was for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 

There are a total of four cases - arms, drugs, money laundering and graft against Samrat. The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat from Chauddagram in Cumilla on October 7, 2019, over the casino business.
