A court in Dhaka today has granted a two-day remand to five Dhaka College students arrested in a case related to the death of Nahid Hasan, who was killed during a clash between traders-shopkeepers and Dhaka College students in the capital’s New Market area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanta Akter’s court granted their remand on Thursday.

Five people were produced in the court on the day. After that, the Detective Branch (DB) requested to remand them for seven days for proper investigation of the murder case.

The accused in the case are – Abdul Qayyum of the Department of Accounting, Palash and Irfan of the Department of Social Sciences, Faisal of the Department of Bangla and Junaid of the Department of Islamic History of Dhaka College.

Earlier, Nahid’s father Md. Nadim Hossain filed a murder case with New Market Police Station on April 20. He mentioned an unidentified accused in the case.
