A Dhaka court today has granted a three-day remand to Sakhawat Ali Nobel, the husband of slain film actress of Dhaka cinema Raima Islam Shimu and driver SM Farhad in connection with the murder of Dhallywood actress Shimu.

Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Rabia Begum’s court granted the remand after a hearing on Tuesday.

On the day, the police produced the accused in court. Sub-Inspector (SI) Chunnu Mia, investigating officer of the case, then appealed to remand them for 10 days for proper investigation of the murder case filed with Keraniganj Model Police Station.

Earlier, Shimu’s brother Harunur Rashid had filed a case against Nobel and his with at Keraniganj Model Police Station. Unidentified people have also been accused in the case.

Earlier, Police arrested Shimu’s husband Nobel on Monday (January 17)  night for questioning on suspicion of involvement in Shimu murder. Noble “confessed to the killing” after an overnight interrogation, police sources said.

Police have also arrested Farhad Hossain, a driver of Shimu’s husband, on charges of aiding and abetting the murder.

A private car used in the murder and dumping of Shimu’s sacked body has been seized.

On January 16 (Sunday), the guardian of Raima Islam Shimu, a resident of Green Road in the capital, filed a general diary (GD) regarding the disappearance of her with Kalabagan police station. Later, a case was filed accusing some unidentified persons in GD sources.

Police with the help of information technology recovered a sacked body from Keraniganj on Monday. The body was later identified by Shimu’s family.

From 1998 to 2004, Shimu acted in about 25 movies. She made her acting debut in Kazi Hayat’s ‘Bartaman’. Later, she acted in the movies of directors such as Delwar Jahan Jhantu, Chashi Nazrul Islam, Sharif Uddin Khan Dipu and several others.

Shimu had been working in the marketing department of a private TV station for several years. She even used to work in plays. Besides, it is known that she had her own drama production house.
