Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the evacuation of civilians from the eastern Donetsk region in the face of the ongoing war with Russia. He announced this in a televised message on Saturday.

Zelenskyy said everyone in the greater Donbas region, where thousands of people are still fighting in Donetsk and neighboring Luhansk, should be evacuated quickly.

Zelenskyy added that the more people leave the Donetsk region, the fewer people there will be for the Russian army to kill.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military claimed that at least 100 Russian soldiers were killed and seven tanks destroyed in the region last Friday.

Basically, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine bordering Russia have been controlled by Kyiv’s army since 2014.

Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to send troops to the two regions controlled by rebels in Ukraine as independent states.
