At least 11 people were killed in four bomb blasts near the Afghan capital, Kabul and the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif. 25 people were injured in the incident.

The explosions took place in Kabul on Wednesday.

According to Afghan Interior Ministry, a bomb blast near a mosque in Kabul has killed at least two people and injured 10 others. However, a hospital in the capital city tweeted that five people had been killed and 22 injured in the blast at the mosque.

Witnesses said several ambulances rushed to the mosque to rescue the injured after the blast.

Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Taliban in Kabul, said the explosion took place at the Hazrat Zakaria Mosque. “The blast occurred when people gathered at the mosque for Maghrib prayers,” he added.

The Taliban-appointed provincial spokesman, Mohammad Asif Waziri, said the minibusses were attacked in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province.

He said “explosive devices” were placed in three minibusses in different areas in the city.
