A terrible blast took place at Giridih district of the Indian state of Jharkhand. The Howrah-Gaya-Delhi rail route has been closed due to damage to the railway line. Many train routes have been changed.
The blast took place in the area between Karamabad and Chichaki stations of Dhanbad-Gaya division around 12:30 pm on Wednesday.
Initially, the police suspected that the Maoists had carried out the blast. Multiple posters of Maoists were found from the spot. Police also believe the extremist group was planning a major sabotage operation.
The Gomo-Gaya (GC) route on the Howrah-Delhi rail route has been suspended for safety reasons after the blast. Dhanbad-Dehri Express has also been cancelled. The Gaya-Asansol passenger and Asansol-Varanasi passenger were also cancelled.
The routes of New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express and New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express trains have been changed after the blast. These trains will run on Patna-Jhanjhar route instead of Dhanbad-Gaya route, the railway authorities said.
