Seven medical students have been killed in a road accident in Maharashtra, India. Among the dead, one was identified as Avishkar Rahangdale, son of BJP MLA Vijay Rahangdale.
The car carrying them fell off the bridge Monday night, local time.
The Indian police said the students were on their way to Wardha from Deoli. The accident took place on a bridge near Selsura village. At that time, the car lost control and fell off the bridge.
A Wardha police official said the accident took place around 1:30 am local time on Monday. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of the vehicle lost control and the accident took place.
The deceased were all the students of Sawangi Medical College, Wardha. In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deepest condolences to the victims of the accident.
He announced Rs 200,000 each to the families of the victims and Rs 50,000 each to the families of the injured. Modi also tweeted wishing a speedy recovery to the injured in the accident.
