Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia will take initiatives to ensure BOP (Balance of power).
Lavrov made the remarks at a news conference as Russia's talks with the United States and its NATO allies on the Ukraine issue stalled and Western powers repeatedly threatened war.
He said, Russia is aware of the presence of NATO troops on the Russian border. The presence of US-led NATO forces on his country's border is unacceptable.
Lavrov also spoke at a news conference in Moscow about the Iranian president's upcoming visit to Russia, security in the Persian Gulf region and the issue of a military peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan on Friday.
He said the deployment of NATO troops and weapons along the Ukrainian border was a red line for Russia.
Despite several meetings between Russia and the United States and its NATO allies this week on the Ukraine issue, little progress has been made. U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan says the risk of Russian military aggression in Ukraine is much higher.
Meanwhile, Michael Carpenter, the US ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), said there was a buzz about the war in Ukraine.
Russia's ambassador to the OSCE said Moscow would be forced to take the necessary steps to ensure a strategic balance of power if the US and NATO alliance's aggressive approach to Russia continued.
