Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow will take different approach for it's own safety if the West fails to guarantee security to Russia. He made the remarks while talking to reporters in the capital, Moscow, on Sunday.
Ryabkov said the US-led military alliance NATO could not ignore Moscow in implementing its Europe and international policy.
Russian and US officials are expected to hold an important meeting on 'strategic stability' few days later. Russia is also scheduled to hold talks with NATO in Brussels on January 12 and with the European Union and Security Organization in Vienna on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Sputnik that the signals from Washington and the European Union on security guarantees before the talks began were 'disappointing.'
However, Ryabkov warned that Russia would not bow to any pressure from the United States.
