6.9 magnitude earthquake shakes China

A strong earthquake of 6.9 magnitudes has shaken northwestern province Qinghai of China. The magnitude was 6.9 on the Richter scale.
China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) informed the information. The quake was felt at 1:45 pm local time on Saturday. Reuters quoted the country's Xinhua news agency as saying in a report.
An aftershock measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale was felt 25 minutes after the quake. Although no casualties have been reported so far, some buildings have been damaged.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude of the quake that struck China was 6.6 and the aftershock was 5.1. The epicenter was reported at 140 km from the city of Jining and the epicenter was 10 km below the surface.
According to the Chinese news agency CGTN, the local fire brigade immediately dispatched at least 499 workers in 55 vehicles to the scene of the quake immediately after the quake. More than 2,000 workers from neighboring provinces have been deployed. Panicked people came out of the building after the earthquake. No deaths or injuries have been reported so far.
