Six killed from Tanker chemical at Gujarat

Six garments workers have been killed after a chemical spill from a tanker parked near a factory at Surat in Gujarat in India on Thursday morning.

At least 20 others were injured in the incident. The death toll from 's crash is expected to rise further.

According to police sources, NDTV and Anandabazar said the accident took place at around 4 am on Thursday in Sachin area of ​​Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (DIC). Investigators are trying to identify the victims.

The deceased were all initially identified as workers of a sari factory in that area of ​​Surat. Police officers reached the spot after receiving the news of the accident.

According to the police, the accident took place at the time of the incident when wasteage was taken out from a chemical tanker and dumped in the sewer in DIC area. The tanker is thought to have contained harmful chemicals. The accident happened as soon as it came in contact with the wind.

Eyewitnesses said workers were having tea while the incident took place. Several of them got ill at once. Six of them died on the way to the hospital. The injured are going through treatment.

Police has started looking into the incident. The tanker driver in mising since the accident. Police are searching for him.

A tanker full of wastages were being carried from Barodora. Investigators  assume that the tanker driver was throwing wastages illigally in the DIC drain. That's why the accident took place.
