Arifin Shuvo going to Cannes Film Festival with ‘Mujib’

The trailer of the movie “Mujib” based on the biography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be screened at Cannes Film Festival. Arifin Shuvoo, the popular actor in Dhaka cinema who played the role of Bangabandhu in the movie, is leaving Dhaka for France tomorrow (May 16) on the occasion of the screening of the trailer of this movie. This is Arifin Shuvo’s first Cannes journey.
The trailer of the movie will be screened at the Indian Pavilion in Kansai on May 19 at the Marché du Film, the commercial arm of the Cannes Film Festival.
Regarding this, Arifin Shuvoo said this is his first time going to Cannes Film Festival. “It’s like a dream. It's not just an honor for me but an honor for the whole country. I am sharing this honor with the fans and all the Bangladeshis who have made me Arifin Shuvoo,” he added.
Nusrat Imrose Tisha, who played the role of Bangabandhu’s wife Sheikh Fazilatunnesa in the movie “Mujib”, and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud were scheduled to go with Shuvoo. Apart from this, some members of the movie team from India including the Information Minister of India will be present.
Regarding the latest status of the movie, renowned director Shyam Benegal told Variety that “the movie is now going through a long VFX process”.
Earlier, the official teaser poster of the movie “Mujib” was released on the occasion of the 102nd birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The poster highlights the moment of Bangabandhu’s historic 7th March Speech in 1971 at Suhrawardy Udyan. Written on the tag line, “The Making of a Nation”.
The shooting of the first phase of the movie started at the end of January 2021 at Dada Saheb Phalke Studio in Mumbai. The co-director of the movie is Dayal Nihalani. The film is a joint production of Bangladesh and India.
