Suborna Mustafa, one of the brightest stars in the country’s showbiz arena, has been spreading fascination in the field of acting for more than three decades. Many consider her an icon in the drama world of Bangladesh. In the 80s, she was a popular TV actress in the country. 

Today is the birthday of the country’s one of the most famous artists, Suborna Mustafa. With this, she turns 62 today.

Born on December 2, 1960, Suborna Mustafa’s father Golam Mustafa was the legendary actor of the Dhaka cinema. As born into a cultural family, Suborna Mustafa started her acting career on stage and debuted on TV in the 80s. 

However, Subarna Mustafa came into the limelight in 1990. Subarna came into the discussion with the play ‘Kothao Keu Nei’ directed by Barkatullah based on the novel by Humayun Ahmed. After that, she acted in timeless serial dramas like ‘Aaj Robibar’.

Subarna Mustafa made her film debut at a very young age. In 1980, she acted in the movie ‘Ghuddi’ directed by Syed Salahuddin Zaki. Then she gifted one after other movies – ‘Lal Sobujer Pala’, ‘Notun Bou’, ‘Noyoner Alo’, ‘Suruj Mia’, ‘Eka Eka’, ‘Shankhaneel Karagar’, ‘Commander, ‘Palabi Kothay’, ‘Fanshi’, ‘Ankhi O Tar Bandhura’, and ‘Gohin Baluchor’.

Among them, Subarna Mustafa won the National Film Award for her supporting role in the movie ‘Notun Bou’. However, she did not accept the award as she was in the title tole in that movie.

In 2019, Subarna Mustafa finally got the gold medal in the National Film Award. She won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding performance in ‘Gohin Baluchor’. In the same year, the Bangladesh government also awarded her the Ekushey Padak.

In her personal life, Subarna Mustafa was married to a legendary actor Humayun Faridi, however, they got separated in 2008, breaking their 22 years of the long marriage. Subarna then married filmmaker Badrul Anam Soud.
