Popular singer Mahfuz Anam James filed a case against Banglalink on a charge of breaching copyright.

The singer lodged the case with the Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, James appeared in court at 11:49 am and filed a complaint with the court. At that time the court recorded his statement and accepted the case.

During the hearing, James' lawyer Tapas Kumar said that the two songs of popular Bangladeshi rock band Miles titled 'Nila Tumi' and 'Firiye Dao' have been used by telecommunication company Banglalink for 14 years breaching copyright. They were verbally asked to remove the songs. Later, on August 6 in 2017, James sent a legal notice to remove the two songs. They were also asked to remove their songs through three ministries. Even then they did not remove it.

Earlier on September 19, James filed a complaint with Metropolitan Session Judge Court under Sections 71, 82 and 91 of the Copyright Act-2000. However, the court refused to accept the case and suggested the singer go to Gulshan police station.

Later on October 21, he went to Gulshan police station to file a case against Banglalink. However, no case was filed in the police station at that time.
