CU student harassment: Prime accused among 4 held

RAB-7 has arrested four people including the prime accused in the case of student harassment at Chattogram University (CU).

RAB-7 assistant director (Media) Nurul Afsar confirmed the matter on Saturday (July 23) at 9 am. However, the names of the arrestees were not known.

It was learned that the police and the proctorial body searched CU’s Shah Amanat Hall on Friday (July 22) at 1 am. A search was carried out based on a tip-off that “there might be a suspect”, but no arrests were made.

Earlier on Sunday (July 17) night, a CU student was physically assaulted by five miscreants. Her friend, who was with her at that time, was also beaten and her mobile phone was snatched. Later, when the victim student complained to the proctor, the university administration formed a five-member investigation committee.

Besides, the student has also filed a case with the police station accusing five anonymous people. CU campus in turmoil demanding justice.
