SSC exam postponed

Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations will not be held in July as the flood situation across the country is not normal yet. The decision was taken at an intra-board meeting on Sunday afternoon.

Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar came up with the development today. The SSC exams would start in August if the flood situation returns to normal, he added.

Asked when the exams could start in August-Tapan Kumar said, “We will discuss the matter after Eid. Then a new date will be announced.”

He said it is not possible to take the SSC exam in July. Because today we have reviewed the situation with everyone and saw that more than half of the centers in Sylhet are being used as shelters. It will take time to reform them and make them suitable for exam centers. So it will not be possible to take the exam in July.

SSC and its equivalent examinations are supposed to start on June 19 across the country. However, due to the deteriorating flood situation in some parts of the country, including Sylhet SSC examination was postponed on June 17.
