Primary schools to reopen, 7-point instructions with new class routine

The government primary school will reopen next Thursday after the coronavirus situation subsided and Eid holidays. However, before the start of the class, seven instructions have been given including the assembly.

The Department of Primary Education (DPE) issued a directive in this regard on Monday night. It has been said that the 7-point directive will remain in force till further instructions.

The instructions are —

1. Classes will be conducted in one shift schools from Saturday to Wednesday from 9:00 am-3:15 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am-2:25 pm (1st and 2nd grade from 9:00 am-1:00 pm and 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade classes from 9:00 am-3:15 pm).

2. Classes will be held in two shift schools from Saturday to Wednesday from 9 am to 4 pm and from Thursday from 9 am to 2:30 pm (1st and 2nd grade from 9 am to 11:50 am and 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade classes from 11:30 am to 4 pm).

3. Pre-primary class activities in one-shift schools will be from Saturday to Thursday from 9:30 am to 12 pm and in two-shift schools from 9 am to 11:30 am.

4. Schools with one shift have to conduct daily assembly from 9 am to 9:25 am and schools with two shifts have to conduct assembly from 11:30 am to 11:50 am following hygiene rules.

5. The headmaster will prepare the routine with the priority of the subject-trained teachers and get the approval of the Assistant Upazila or Thana Education Officer of the concerned cluster.

6. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has been asked to follow the previous class routine in the teaching schedule of primary schools in the Dhaka metropolis.

7. Appropriate steps need to be taken to fill the learning gap.
