Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, the movement of students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is logical and all their demands will be fulfilled. I thank them for breaking their fasting.
The Education Minister came up with the development while speaking to reporters at her official residence on Hare Road in the capital at 6.30 pm on Wednesday.
The education minister said teachers-students, university administration, government are all one side. There is no such thing as two sides. The students in the movement are emotionally broken down. Let them get a little tidy. We will go there in a few days and will sit with them anytime they want.
Students have been protesting in front of the Vice-Chancellor's residence since January 17 demanding his resignation.
A total of 24 SUST students began a hunger strike on January 19 demanding the resignation of the SUST VC Farid Uddin Ahmed.
Earlier, the agitation started on the night of January 13 against the provost of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Student Hall for misconduct. Later, the police attacked the protesting students. Since then, the protesters have been demanding the resignation of the VC.
The students broke their hunger strikes in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and his wife Professor Yasmin Haque. This popular writer, professor broke the week-long hunger strike of students by feeding them water. However, the students said that the movement will continue.
Earlier, students who had fallen ill also joined the hunger strike breaking programs from the hospital.
