Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said the teachers have repeatedly approached the protesting students, however, their massages did not reach the students properly.
“We want the students to break their hunger fast and sit in discussion. It is possible to solve all the problems through discussion,” she said this after a meeting with a delegation of teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet at around 8 pm on Saturday.
“The teacher leaders wanted to talk. I gave them time. The students were supposed to come. But only the teachers came,” Education Minister informed the media.
The delegation of SUST’s ¬¬teachers are – Professor Tulsi Kumar Das, president of the university teachers’ association, general secretary Mohibul Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Physics Professor Rashed Talukder, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Dr. Ariful Islam and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Dr. Khairul Islam Rubel.
At the time, the Education Minister said, “We don’t know if anyone else has any fuel in this movement or not. You (journalists) can check it out. Students are on hunger strike, we are suffering from it. Again, the way the students are treating the teachers is not acceptable.”
