Students from seven colleges, affiliated with Dhaka University, are staging demonstrations blocking the Nilkhet intersection in the capital on Saturday protesting the suspension of their ongoing examinations.
The students blocked the Nilkhet intersection at 9:30 am. The students said that after attending the center, they can know that the examination has been postponed. Today was their last test.
The students complained that although the second year examination was supposed to be held in 2018, it is being held in 2022. Although the exam, which started on November 21, was supposed to end today, it has been postponed.
Kawsar Hossain, a student of Poet Nazrul Government College, said, "We are already in a terrible session jam. Today was scheduled to held the last exam. I came to the center and knew that the test has been postponed. Why such a farce with us?"
Sharif Mohammad Faruquzzaman, senior assistant commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna division's Newmarket zone, said "We are trying to convince them. The students are claiming to take their final exam today, however, it is a matter of university. We are trying to remove them from the intersection."
Further action would be taken on the instructions of higher authorities, the police official said.
