The body of an unidentified newborn has been recovered from a dustbin in Dhaka University (DU) area.

Police recovered the body of the newborn girl from the front of DU's Shaheed Sheikh Russell Tower around 11:00 am on Tuesday (January 18).

The body was later taken to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital.

According to the police, the age of the newborn is approximately one day. No signs of injuries were found on the body of the dead newborn. The autopsy report will actually reveal the exact cause of death. However, it is initially thought that someone left her body in the dustbin.

Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sudip Kumar Biswas confirmed the information.
