BUET online classes begin

The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has started online classes from today (Saturday, January 15) instead of physical classes due to the COVID situation. Although the physical classes are closed, the residential hall of the university remains open.
BUET Director of Student Welfare (DSW) Professor Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter on Saturday.
He said according to the pre-announced decision, online classes have started in BUET from today. However, the halls are not being closed for the time being. The halls will remain open until government instructions come.
He further said we are already getting news of 3-4 students being infected with Covid-19. “If the number increases, then we have to think differently,” added Professor Mizanur Rahman.
Before this, in a press release on January 12, BUET announced that the physical classes would be closed. As per the decision of the 474th session of the Academic Council, the theory classed, lab classed of all level/term students of the July 2021 term will be held online till the next instruction.
Earlier, physical classes at Jahangirnagar University (JU) were also declared closed due to an increase in COVID infection. Currently, there are online classes. However, physical classes are still running at Dhaka University (DU).
