Before this, in a press release on January 12, BUET announced that the physical classes would be closed. As per the decision of the 474th session of the Academic Council, the theory classed, lab classed of all level/term students of the July 2021 term will be held online till the next instruction.

Earlier, physical classes at Jahangirnagar University (JU) were also declared closed due to an increase in COVID infection. Currently, there are online classes. However, physical classes are still running at Dhaka University (DU).
