Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said the government does not want to close educational institutions. That is why it is being decided to put more emphasis on vaccination activities. However, it is not possible to bring primary-level students under the campaign.

She told reporters on Saturday after the silver jubilee celebrations of a college in the capital.

Dr. Dipu Moni said the educational institutions had to be closed for the last one and a half years due to the COVID situation. “The government does not want to close educational institutions newly. As a result, more importance is being given to the vaccination activities of the students,” she also said.

“Although it is possible to bring students under the vaccination campaign from the age of 12, it is not possible to bring primary level students under this. So, there is more concern about them,” she said.

The Education Minister added “the education system will suffer the most” if the situation does not improve again. If the educational institution is closed again, then it is “uncertain” how to reactivate this in how many days. That is why we want to bring students under vaccination and continue teaching in educational institutions.

Earlier, in her speech as the chief guest, Dr. Dipu Moni said the new curriculum will be “skill-based”. Not only exam-based and certified education, but education also needs to be skill-based so that we can apply what we learn. “Learned, took the test, then forgot - there is no benefit in it. We must learn to solve problems - it must be accompanied by honesty, humanity and patriotism. Otherwise, the earned education will have no value,” Education Minister also said.

Poverty should not stand in the way of any student’s higher education, commented Dr. Dipu Moni.
