KUET shut down till Dec 13, students asked to leave halls by 4pm

Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) campus has been declared shut down till December 13 over the death of Dr. Md. Selim Hossain, a Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department. At the same time, the students were instructed to leave the hall by 4 pm on Friday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the KUET syndicate, confirmed university’s engineer Md. Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, in a notification.
The notification mentioned that as per the decision of the 78th emergency syndicate meeting of KUET, the university was declared shut down from December 3 to December 13 for proper investigation into the untimely death of the KUET EEE Department’s Professor Dr. Md. Selim Hossain.
The notification also said the decision was taken to avoid any untoward situations over the incident. At the same time, the residential students were instructed to leave the hall by 4 pm on Friday.
KUET EEE Department’s Professor Dr. Md. Selim Hossain, who was also a Provost of Lalon Shah Hall, suffered a cardiac arrest and died on Tuesday (November 30). It was learned that he was “assaulted” before suffering a cardiac arrest and died.
Some students of the student organization were accused of influencing the Dining Manager election which is scheduled to hold in December in Lalon Shah Hall. They used to regularly threaten Dr. Md. Selim Hossain to select their nominated candidate.
