Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has reduced the exchange rate for buyers to exchange old gold ornaments for new ones.
According to BAJUS, jewelery companies will reduce gold ornaments' exchange rate by 2 percent to 8 percent from now on for the convenience of buyers.
Apart from this, the jewelery companies will cut 15 percent rate in case of buying old gold ornaments from the buyers. Until now, the 20 percent deduction rule was prevailing, which is reduced to 5 percent under the new rules.
BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Chairman M. A. Hannan Azad said this in a press release sent to the media on Monday.
According to BAJUS, in the country for a long time, there was a rule of 10 percent in case of exchange or change of gold ornaments and 20 percent in case of purchase or purchase from a buyer. According to the decision of a recent meeting of Bajus, exchange and purchase rates of gold ornaments have been reduced for the convenience of buyers.
BAJUS's new rules state that the gold jewelery exchange rate has been fixed at 8 percent and 15 percent in case of purchase. Besides, the minimum wage during the sale of gold ornaments has been fixed at Tk 300 per gram.
BAJUS has requested all jewelers across the country to follow the new rules in exchange, purchase or buying and selling of gold ornaments.
