Banks to remain open on Saturday

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has asked banks for taking appropriate measures to keep open their branches or sub-branches relating to the hajj activities on July 2 (Saturday) for hajj management.

Bangladesh issued a circular in this regard and sent it to the chief executives of commercial banks on Thursday.

The circular state that in order to facilitate Hajj management, the main branches of the bank concerned with Hajj activities have been directed to keep open all day on Saturday (July 2) to ensure adequate security at the district and sub-district levels.

The central bank issued the instruction to keep open the banks on weekly holiday in the public interest under section 45 of the Banking Companies Act, 1991.
