Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce the price of gold in the country's market by Tk 2,916 to Tk 79,548 a bhori or 11.664 gram as the prices of the precious metal fell on the global market.
The information was given in a circular signed by MA Hannan Azad, chairman of BAJUS Pricing and Pricing Monitoring Standing Committee on Thursday. Gold will be traded at new prices across the country from Friday (May 27).
According to BAJUS, the US dollar and other currencies are depreciating. Gold prices also declined in the international market and the local bullion market. Therefore, considering the overall situation, the Bangladesh Jewelery Association has set a new price for gold, which will be effective from 27 May.
The meeting fixed the price of 21-carat gold at Tk 6,510 per gram, 18-carat at Tk 5,580 and traditional gold at Tk 4,650.
According to the new rate, 22-carat (11.664gm) gold will cost Tk79,548, 21 carat will cost Tk 75,933, 18 carat will cost Tk 65,085 and traditional gold will cost Tk54, 238.
However, the price of silver has been kept unchanged. According to the category, the price of 22-carat heavy silver has been fixed at Tk1516, 21 carat silver at Tk1435 and 18 carat silver at Tk 933.
