The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is being held in the capital’s Purbachal. However, due to the deteriorating situation of Covid-19, the Cabinet Division has issued a five-point directive including control of public gatherings. The fair authorities have decided to continue the activities of the trade fair following the hygiene rules within the imposed restrictions.

The fair is being held at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) throughout the month of January.

Export Development Bureau (EPB) Secretary and Director of Fair Md. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury informed this at noon on Friday noon.

He said the restrictions imposed by the Cabinet Division did not say anything about “closing trade fairs”. We have started the mobile court in the fair premises from yesterday (Thursday). Yesterday, 11 people were fined Tk 2,300. The magistrate will start the activities today as well.

The EPB secretary said we will follow the restrictions as they are. We will abide by the government’s instructions.

The Cabinet Division issued five emergency directives to prevent the COVID outbreak on Friday.

The directive says that masks must be ensured in all kinds of public gatherings including markets, mosques, bus stands, launch ghats and railway stations. The administration or law enforcement will monitor the matter.

Earlier, on January 10, a notification was issued by the Cabinet Division with 11-point instructions.
